The trip was amazing.  It was also an emotional roller coaster – as we knew it would be.  We saw incredible palaces and beautiful art along with memorial sites of horrific atrocities.  The guides were very good at pointing out the good along with the bad and being sensitive to our emotions as they changed.

The drivers were great – some were very aggressive on the road, but we felt safe and well taken care of. In Kiev, the guide made arrangements with a Jewish family in Radomyshl to take us around.  That was incredible.  They didn’t know anything about my family, but were able to show us things we wouldn’t have otherwise seen, including the lumber mill – which may be the same mill that my great grandfather worked at. The hotel in Lviv was nice (Medieval). The room was spacious and well decorated. Only issue is the elevator does not go to the ground floor. You have to carry luggage up 5 or 6 steps to get from the lobby to the elevator. Not a big deal, but not the best setup.  The synagogue in Warsaw had three dinners set up – two were paid catered dinners for specific groups that had signed up and the third was free for anybody who wanted to come.  They did not have us the paid list, so we went to the free community dinner.  The services on Saturday morning go from 9-12, so we didn’t go and just had the driver and guide pick us up at the hotel at 10. Overall it was a great trip.  We all learned a lot and experienced a lot of new things.

All the guides were good – they were the best
