Only in Africa can you be so close to the world’s greatest natural wonders and still enjoy the comforts and luxuries of modern life. In the heart of South Africa you will be introduced to wildlife in its natural habitat. At private game reserves, experienced game rangers and trackers will guide you through the wonders of the bush by day and night. Experience Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The deafening roar of the water and the misty haze makes it apparent why local tribes call the falls Mosi-Oa-Tuny, the smoke that thunders. In Cape Town, frolic with whales, penguins, and seals at natural reserves, and enjoy Cape Town’s botanical gardens, fascinating architecture, historic sites, and exciting night life.

Day 1: Depart home city

Day 2: Arrive: Johannesburg

You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay. *Optional private cultural day tour to Soweto time permitting Overnight: Johannesburg

Day 3: Johannesburg – Victoria Falls

Plane transfer to Victoria Falls Airport where you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel for a 2-night stay. Afternoon guided walking tour of the Falls. First stop is the Big Tree – a massive baobab many hundreds of years old with a girth of some 22 metres. The tour continues on to the Falls themselves, starting at Livingstone’s statue and Devil’s Cataract and proceeding through the rainforest to Danger Point. The total walk is 3kms with many spectacular view points along the way. Overnight: Victoria Falls

Day 4: Victoria Falls – Full day tour to Chobe National Park.

Transfer across the Botswana border, completing immigration and customs formalities before continuing to the Chobe National Park. Cruise on the Chobe River where you should see elephant, crocodiles, pods of hippos and other game species coming to drink and bathe in the river, as well as many bird species. Lunch at a lodge, then the afternoon continues with a game drive in open vehicles into the Chobe National Park, with a chance of spotting lion and buffalo as well as numerous plains game species. Transfer back across the border in the late afternoon. Overnight: Victoria Falls

Day 5: Victoria Falls – Johannesburg – Cape Town

Morning elephant back safari. Optional helicopter sightseeing tour over the Falls also available. Clients are introduced to their elephants and their “Ndunas”. After a short familiarisation with the elephants, the elephant back safari through the bush begins (1.5-2 hours ride). Return flight to Johannesburg and a connecting flight to Cape Town. Overnight: Cape Town

Day 6: Cape Town

Cape Town area touring: cable-car ride up Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and the Winelands.
The cable-car ride to the top of Table Mountain, a highlight of any visit to the city, provides spectacular views over the Peninsula. After descending the mountain you’ll depart for the Winelands. South Africa is the world’s seventh largest wine producer, and its vineyards are as spectacular as those of France, Italy and California. Leaving Cape Town proceed through the spectacular mountain scenery and lush fertile valleys of the Cape to Stellenbosch, South Africa’s second oldest city. This oak lined university town has a museum showing different styles of architecture in the Cape from the 16th century. The day can be spent combining a mixture of fascinating history with spectacular scenery and wine tastings at one or two kosher wineries. Return to the city in time to prepare for Shabbat. Overnight: Cape Town

Day 7: Cape Town

Day 8: Cape Town – Full day sightseeing tour to Cape Point

The 25 mile drive to Cape Point includes a stop at Hout Bay, a beautiful fishing village from where a boat trip is made to Duiker Island, to see the mass of seals (optional and weather permitting). To arrive at Cape Point, one passes through the 7750 hectare plant rich expanse of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. This reserve is home to a variety of indigenous wildlife species including the Cape Mountain zebra, red lynx, caracal and a variety of antelope. In addition about five troops of chacma baboons frequent the area. There are also over 250 species of marine birds. Viewers may be lucky enough to spot seals, whales and dolphins. Leaving the reserve we drive along the False Bay coastline to Boulders Beach, home of the largest Jackass Penguin colony in South Africa. A stop can then be made at Simonstown, a naval base, and then it’s back to the city via Boyes Drive. Overnight: Cape Town

Day 9: Cape Town – Johannesburg –Game Lodge

Flight to Johannesburg Then connecting flight to your private luxury game lodge for a 2 or 3-night stay. These private reserve are located adjacent to the world famous Kruger Park. The fences are all down here so the game passes freely between the reserves. There are a number of ways to view the wildlife, from the unparalleled panorama from the viewing deck of your suite, to the guided game walks and drives The area is marked by its diversity, from the leopards and lion that own the open spaces to the herds engaged in the ebb and flow of an archaic migration. Each creature is an intrinsic part of a precarious cycle, from the hundreds of species of birds to the flora and intriguing insect life. The days and nights here are shared with the animals, the sounds and smells of the African bush, home to an abundance of species – 147 mammals including the “Big Five”, 114 reptiles, 507 birds, 49 fish, 34 amphibians and 336 trees. The activities at the lodge include late afternoon game drives and early morning game drives. These drives are undertaken at times best suited for game viewing at the particular time of the year. The rangers advise of an early morning wake up call followed by a game drive, returning for breakfast. The afternoon game drive departs at approximately 4.30pm and returns at approximately 7.30pm. Afternoon drives extend into the evening with the aid of spotlights to view seldom seen nocturnal species. Overnight: Safari Lodge

Day 10: On safari

It’s an early start for the morning game drive. As the early morning sun rises over the horizon, rangers and trackers head out with guests into the African bushveld. One can sense the excitement… who knows what to expect? A herd of ever-cautious impala huddled together, a leopard in the branches of a knobthorn tree with a kill from the last hours of darkness, a herd of elephant feeding in the lush vegetation or a pride of lion in the shade of an acacia. Tea/coffee are served prior to departing the lodge, and again there will be refreshments about mid-way through the drive. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Now clients have the option of a bush walk, accompanied by an armed ranger. A wonderful way to learn about the flora and fauna of the area. Afternoon/evening program as per previous day. Overnight: Safari Lodge

Day 11: On safari or depart

Another day to enjoy the thrill of game viewing and the tranquillity of the bush. A spa treatment is also possible at the lodge. Overnight: Safari Lodge

Day 12: Game Lodge – Johannesburg – USA.

After early morning game drive and breakfast, it’s time to pack up for the return light aircraft flight to Johannesburg. Check in for your return international flight.
