Jewish Tour
The Naples Jewish Tour consists in a walking tour that starts from the present synagogue dated 1864, where clients will be given the history of the 2000 years old Jewish Community of Naples.
The tour will end in the ex-Jewish quarter where Jews used to live until the year 1541, and where you shall see (from the outside) two ancient medieval synagogues ( transformed into churches), that survived the destruction of the medieval quarters of Naples and a few old houses where Jews used to live.
The ex Jewish quarter and the present Synagogue, are located in two different areas of Naples, therefore the tour will take about two hours if moving by taxi cab or about three hours if performed by foot.
For security reasons, the Synagogue visit is subject to a previous booking. A copy of your passport must be send, in advance, to our Synagogue security service.
If accompanied by our guide, the Naples Synagogue can be visited from Monday to Friday. On Saturday the synagogue is open only to pray, on Sunday the synagogue can be opened only under special request. While visiting the Synagogue, the Naples Jewish Community will appreciate a free contribution as tzedaqa.
Usually, the Synagogue is closed in the month of August, therefore a tour must be planned long in advance and cannot be always guaranteed.
