Jewish Heritage Poland Tour — 9-Day Customized Itinerary

Warsaw • Lublin • Zamość • Lancut • Tarnów • Shtetl Route

1st Day: Arrival in Warsaw → Lublin

Arrive in Warsaw and transfer by private bus to Lublin.
Afternoon: Check in and begin sightseeing, including the Main Market Square,
Jeshivah Chachmei Lublin (Rabbinic Academy), and the Old Jewish Cemetery.
Evening: Free time. Overnight in Lublin.

2nd Day: Majdanek Concentration Camp

Morning: Visit the Majdanek Concentration Camp, established in 1941 and the second-largest Nazi camp after Auschwitz.
Over 230,000 people, including approximately 100,000 Jews, perished here.
Afternoon: Free time. Evening: Optional cultural program. Overnight in Lublin.

3rd Day: Shtetl Tour — Kazimierz Dolny, Lubartów & Łęczna

Morning: Explore Kazimierz Dolny, a Renaissance town on the Vistula River. Highlights include the market square, the restored synagogue, and the Jewish cemetery.
Afternoon: Continue to Lubartów to see the preserved Jewish cemetery, then visit Łęczna with its Great Synagogue (now a museum), Small Synagogue, and former Jewish houses.
Evening: Return to Lublin. Overnight in Lublin.

4th Day: Piaski, Bychawa & Izbica → Zamość

Morning: Begin in Piaski with a local historian discussing Jewish–non-Jewish coexistence during the interwar years.
Afternoon: In Bychawa, meet local educators for a film about 20th-century Jewish history and visit the synagogue and market square.
Continue to Izbica to walk the former Jewish cemetery, including the unique tomb of the Griner–Pawłowski brothers.
Transfer to Zamość. Evening: Overnight in Zamość.

5th Day: Zamość — UNESCO World Heritage Site & Hasidic Heritage Tour

Morning: Tour Zamość, including the Old Market, Zamojski Palace, Town Hall, synagogue, mikvah, and the house of Rosa Luxemburg.
Afternoon: Hasidic heritage excursion:

  • Bełżec Extermination Camp
  • Sieniawa Jewish Cemetery and Tzaddik’s Ohel
  • Leżajsk — Ohel of Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk, plus the Bernardine Monastery and cathedral

Evening: Check into hotel in Dąbrówka. Overnight in Dąbrówka.

6th Day: Łańcut Synagogue & Palace → Tarnów

Morning: Visit the beautifully preserved Łańcut Synagogue (c.1726) and the Baroque Łańcut Castle with gardens, stables, and winter garden.
Afternoon: Travel to Tarnów and check in.
Evening: Free time. Overnight in Tarnów.

7th Day: Tarnów → Warsaw

Morning: Explore the Main Market Square, Gothic-Renaissance Town Hall, Old Synagogue Bimah, Jewish district, cemetery, and the Sinti and Roma Museum.
Afternoon: Return to Warsaw with a stop in Sandomierz to see its medieval cathedral, Długosz House, Dominican Abbey, and Town Hall.
Evening: Arrival in Warsaw.

8th Day: Jewish Warsaw

Morning: Visit the Warsaw Ghetto sites and the Okopowa Street Jewish Cemetery—one of Europe’s most important Jewish cemeteries.
Stop at the Nożyk Synagogue and meet with a representative of the Jewish community for a discussion about Jewish life in Poland today.
Afternoon: Free time.
Evening: Performance in the Yiddish Theatre. Overnight in Warsaw.

9th Day: Departure

Transfer to the airport for departure.
